The “Binda Trophy” week begins and the Valcuvia region is looking forward to welcoming cyclists from all over the world

The Binda Trophy week begins and Cittiglio, Gavirate and the whole Valcuvia region are finalising the preparations for the double event on Sunday; the Alfredo Binda Trophy for elite women and the Da Moreno Trophy for junior women; two events that can hold their own with any other race in the world: “We are putting the finishing touches on all aspects of the race – explained Mario Minervino, leader of Cycling Sport Promotion which organises the two races – we have already installed a large part of the communication that distinguishes the events: the roundabouts, the billboard at the Colacem factory, we are about to put up the flags and the posters that announce Sunday’s races all over the region. We will soon start to set up the stage and the structures for the start and finish lines. Then it will be the turn of the arches and all the rest. The weather should be good all week and this will make our work easier; after the recent snows, we can breathe a sigh of relief. Now we are just waiting for the athletes, their staff and the fans, on Sunday, for whom we have prepared a full programme of entertainment”. Those who arrive in Cittiglio on Friday will already find fun; lots of music, entertainment and good food right up until Sunday afternoon. Don’t miss out! (Photo F.Ossola)

“Alfredo Binda Trophy” radio advertisements

Today, Thursday 10 March, the advertising campaign to promote the Alfredo Binda Trophy (female World Tour event) and the Da Moreno Trophy – mini-Alfredo Binda (international event for junior women) will begin on Radio Number One. Both races will take place on Sunday 20 March, starting from Gavirate and finishing in Cittiglio after 123 km. “Huge enthusiasm for a special day dedicated to elite female cycling. Come and see cycling at its best on the roads of Lombardy!” goes the ad which will be aired seven times a day between 7.00 am and 8.00 pm. Radio Number One, official radio of the Alfredo Binda Trophy for years, is the ideal partner for an event that attracts tens of thousands of people both at the start line and along the race circuit. Various radio presenters alternate in entertaining the public at the finish line while waiting for the outcome of the race, which is The female cycling event of the first part of the season in Italy. The “Alfredo Binda Trophy” lengthens the tourist season, ‘sold out’ in the whole southern Varese region

The “Alfredo Binda Trophy” lengthens the tourist season, ‘sold out’ in the whole southern Varese region

The numbers are astounding: all of the hospitality structures in the Varese area are booked out on the third weekend of March during the 18th Alfredo Binda Trophy – Cittiglio, one of the races of the elite female world tour and the 4th edition of the Da Moreno/mini-Binda Trophy, an international event for junior women, both of which will be held on Sunday 20 March, starting from Gavirate and finishing in Cittiglio (both in the province of Varese). “This year 140 athletes have registered for the junior race while 170 will participate in the elite event. They are from thirty different countries. – explained Mario Minervino, president of Cycling Sport Promotion, which organises the event – Add to that the various technicians, managers and masseurs of the teams, coming, as usual, from all over the world. Then, the journalists, photographers and all the operators involved in the race. We have an estimated 1,200 people staying in the area. Hotels and farm accommodation in the southern Varese region are all full: it is great news to be “sold out” and not just because of the passion and interest that the event brings out in cycling lovers. To have such an important influx at this time of year is positive for the economy of the whole area. In fact, the Binda Trophy has lengthened the season for all those working in the tourism sector and we are very proud of this. We’ll see the first team cars arriving already on Thursday 17 March”.
